With the right equipment and trained technicians, carpets can be dry to touch in as little as 2-6 hours in summer, or 6-24 hours in winter. We use a high-suction machine, a water heating unit, triple drying strokes and commercial fans, so your carpets are usually close to dry before we leave. A company using budget equipment can leave carpets wet for 2-4 days, which carries real risks of over-wetting.
Maybe, but not usually. Check exactly what is included in the quote: a thorough hot water extraction clean with pre-treatment costs more than someone shampooing with a small machine. Be wary of super-low advertised specials. Cleaners run a business like anyone else: if the price is too low, the work may be rushed and the products cheap, which can shorten the life of your carpet.
No. Dirt is abrasive, like sandpaper. Every time you walk on a dirty carpet you grind grit into the fibres, cutting them so they wear out faster. Regular vacuuming is important but not enough. The longer you wait, the faster your carpet wears out, and replacing carpet is far more expensive than cleaning it.
Yes. Outdoor air carries pollens, fungus, bacteria and pollution, and all of it is tracked into carpets, along with cooking oils, dust mites and their waste. Many customers with allergies, asthma or other breathing conditions notice a real improvement after a thorough hot water extraction clean.
Shrinkage is usually caused by underpowered equipment, incorrect procedures or untrained technicians. If a machine cannot remove most of the water it injects, the jute backing can swell, causing the carpet to shrink, ripple or expand. Choosing a professional with proper equipment, training and a guarantee avoids the risk entirely.
No. The two main methods are dry (low moisture) cleaning and hot water extraction. Push-along hire machines are too small and can cause water marking, shrinkage and fast re-soiling. Commercial portable extractors and van-mounted units, in trained hands, produce excellent results. We pre-treat traffic lanes where needed, then extract with professional equipment.
We fully guarantee every carpet and upholstery cleaning job and every carpet repair we do. If you are not happy with our work, we will organise a time to return and make things right.
If furniture is light, our technician is happy to move it off the area being cleaned. Insurance requirements restrict us from moving heavier furniture, so we recommend arranging that before we arrive. We vacuum under and behind furniture where we can reach.
